The dark hand has decent scaling so it can be used against enemies that are weak to Dark Damage until yo get past SL30 or find human pine resins and a decently upgraded weapon. As far as PvP goes Dark Hand really only works in high wall of Lothric at SL lower than 20 - and even at that most experienced PvP players will make easy work out of it.
