I started out using a 20k as "double duty" and the extra line capacity. I was SHOCKED when I actually got an 18k. The difference was night and day. I don't know what sized you're looking for but the best left hand reel for us lefties is the saltiga 30l, which is the only left handed star drag made by daiwa, shimano, and others in the 2/0-3/0 range.
